MagicKit AI
What MagicKit AI does
MagicKit AI lets you build and edit Elementor pages by describing what you want. It works in two ways:
- The AI assistant in Elementor – a chat panel inside the editor. It uses your own key from OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude) or Google (Gemini).
- Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini – connect the AI app you already use to your site and ask it to build or edit pages from its chat.
Either way, the AI reads your page, picks the right MagicKit and Elementor widgets, uses your Style Kit colors and writes real copy in your language. Every change can be undone.
Requirements
- MagicKit Pro 1.3 or newer, with an active license, and MagicKit Lite
- WordPress 6.9 or newer and the free Elementor plugin
- For the assistant: an API key from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google
- For Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini: a site that is online with a secure https:// address, and any permalink setting other than Plain (Settings → Permalinks)
Add your AI key
- Create an API key with the provider you prefer:
- OpenAI: platform.openai.com/api-keys
- Anthropic (Claude): platform.claude.com/settings/keys
- Google (Gemini): aistudio.google.com/api-keys
- In WordPress go to MagicKit → AI, paste the key in the provider’s card and click Save AI settings.
- Pick a model, or keep Automatic, and click Test connection.
Keys are encrypted with your site’s security keys, are never shown again after saving and never reach the browser. On WordPress 7.0 and newer, a key you already added in Settings → Connectors is used automatically.
API keys are separate from a ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini chat subscription: the provider bills API use to the account the key belongs to.
Build pages with the assistant
- Open any page with Elementor.
- Click MagicKit AI at the bottom right of the editor.
- Describe what you want, or click one of the suggestions. For example: “Add a hero section with an animated headline and two buttons”, “Add a pricing table with 3 plans” or “Make this page look more modern”.
- Watch the steps (Reading the page, Adding Pricing Table…) while the changes appear live on the page.
- Keep talking to refine it: “Make the headline shorter”, “Use our purple for the buttons”.
Tips: be specific about content (product, audience, tone) and ask for one section at a time on long pages. The AI cannot upload images: it leaves image placeholders and tells you which images to add.
Review, undo and publish
- Nothing is saved until you click Publish or Update in Elementor.
- Click Undo these changes in the chat, or use Elementor’s own Undo (Ctrl/Cmd + Z), to remove what the AI did.
- Click the circular arrow in the chat header to start a new conversation.
Costs and limits
MagicKit AI is included in MagicKit Pro. There are no MagicKit credits: you pay your AI provider for the tokens you use, on your own account. Under MagicKit → AI you can:
- see the tokens used per provider today and in the last 30 days,
- set a Daily token limit for the whole site (0 = no limit),
- set the Max output tokens per request; raise it if answers are cut off.
Check your provider’s dashboard for exact prices and billing.
Use MagicKit from Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini
Connect the AI app you already use. You do this once; no code, no Node.js and no extra plugin are needed.
- In WordPress go to MagicKit → AI, turn on Allow AI apps to connect and click Save AI settings.
- Copy Your MagicKit address. It looks like
https://your-site.com/wp-json/magickit/v1/mcp. - Add it in your AI app:
- Claude (claude.ai, desktop and mobile apps): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the address, click Add, then Connect. The Free plan allows one custom connector.
- ChatGPT (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu): Settings → Apps → Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode, click Create app, paste the address and choose OAuth.
- Gemini (gemini.google.com): Settings → Connected Apps → Add a custom app, paste the address and click Next. Google currently offers this to personal accounts in the US, in English.
- A page from your site opens: sign in to WordPress if asked, check the app name and click Allow.
Menu names belong to the AI apps and can change; look for Connectors, Apps or Connected apps.
What connected apps can do
Once connected, just ask in the chat, for example “List my pages” or “Create a Services page with an animated headline and three service boxes”. The app can:
- list your pages and read their Elementor layout,
- look up MagicKit and Elementor widgets and their settings, and read your Style Kit colors,
- create pages (as drafts unless you ask to publish),
- add, change, move and remove sections and widgets,
- set a page’s title, URL, parent page, SEO title and meta description,
- publish pages and changes when you ask it to (“Publish it”),
- show its recent changes and undo them.
SEO titles and descriptions go to your SEO plugin (Yoast SEO, Rank Math, SEOPress, All in One SEO or The SEO Framework). Without one, MagicKit adds them to the page itself.
It cannot delete pages, change menus or site settings, or upload images.
Safety and privacy
- Your permissions. The assistant and connected apps act as the WordPress user who uses or approved them, with that user’s permissions.
- Drafts for live pages. When an app changes a published page, the change is saved as a draft copy. Ask the app to publish it, or open the page in Elementor, restore the draft and click Update. You can turn on Apply AI changes to published pages immediately in MagicKit → AI if you prefer.
- Change history. Every change made by a connected app is listed in MagicKit → AI → AI change history for 30 days with an Undo button. A page an app created is moved to the trash when you undo it.
- Disconnect any time. Connected apps in MagicKit → AI lists every app with a Disconnect button; it stops working immediately.
- What is shared. The AI provider receives your messages, the structure and text of the page you work on, your list of widgets and your Style Kit colors. Their own terms apply.
Troubleshooting
- “… rejected the API key” – copy the key again from the provider and check that billing is set up on that account.
- “Rate limit or quota reached” – wait a moment, or raise the limits on your provider account.
- “Today’s AI token limit is used up” – raise or clear the daily limit in MagicKit → AI.
- The answer stops in the middle – raise Max output tokens per request.
- The AI app cannot reach your site – the site must be online with https, permalinks must not be Plain, and security or firewall plugins must not block
/wp-json/magickit/v1/or/.well-known/addresses. On some Apache servers theAuthorizationheader has to be passed to PHP; WordPress usually adds this to.htaccessfor you. - “AI app connections are turned off” – turn on Allow AI apps to connect and save.
- The app’s change does not appear on the live page – it was saved as a draft copy: ask the app to publish it, or open the page in Elementor and publish it.
